USGS Water monitoring sites

List USGS NWIS monitoring sites. Filter by US state, site type, bounding box, parameter code, or data-type availability. Returns site metadata including location, altitude, and hydrologic unit code. Dual-path: legacy WaterServices primary, OGC API fallback.

get/api/v1/environment/usgs-water/sites

Query parameters

statestring

2-letter US state code.

site_typestring

Site type(s) comma-separated (ST=stream, LK=lake, GW=well, SP=spring, OC=ocean, ES=estuary, AT=atmosphere, FA=facility, AG=aggregate).

bboxstring

Bounding box 'minlon,minlat,maxlon,maxlat'.

parameterstring

Parameter code filter (5-digit).

has_data_typestring

Filter sites by data-type availability (iv|dv|sv|pk|gw|qw|aw).

limitinteger

Maximum number of sites to return.

Response

List of USGS monitoring sites with location and classification metadata.
