Annual Business Survey: employer firms by owner demographics

Employer firms, employment, annual payroll and receipts by owner sex, ethnicity, race and veteran status from the Census Bureau's Annual Business Survey Company Summary (<vintage>/abscs), one vintage year (2017 to the latest published). geo is the nation or one state (state= required). County, metro and congressional district stay out. The industry variable is renamed per vintage (NAICS2017, NAICS2022) and is resolved from the vintage's own variable list. Size, receipts, years-in-business and urban/rural tables stay out: those classifiers are pinned to all firms. A vintage past the latest is an empty answer with a reason. Do not GET *_LABEL columns.

Query parameters

yearstring required

Vintage year (YYYY, 2017 to the latest published; required).

geostring

us (national) or state (one state; state= required).

statestring nullable

State postal code (CA, TX, DC, ...) when geo=state.

naicsstring nullable

00 for all industries (default), a NAICS sector (54, or a range such as 31-33) or a 3-6 digit NAICS code.

sexstring nullable

Optional SEX code (001 total, 002 female, 003 male, ...). Omit for every published sex group.

ethnicitystring nullable

Optional ETH_GROUP code (001 total, 020 Hispanic, ...). Omit for every published ethnicity group.

racestring nullable

Optional RACE_GROUP code (00 total, 30 White, 40 Black, ...). Omit for every published race group.

veteranstring nullable

Optional VET_GROUP code (001 total, 002 veteran, ...). Omit for every published veteran group.

Response

One row per owner-demographics combination at the requested geography.
