Top carriers by direct premiums written for a jurisdiction/scope and line

Source: free annual NAIC Market Share Report -- top-125 countrywide ('us'/'us_alien' scope) or top-10 per jurisdiction ('state' scope) ONLY; absence from the results does NOT mean a carrier writes no business there. Rows mix entity_kind 'group' and 'company' in one ranking (the report's own methodology) -- there is no entity filter param; every row is tagged with its entity_kind. line defaults to 'total_all_lines'; passing a category (e.g. 'property') expands to every matching line_code, one block per line in lines. HHI is not computable from a truncated table -- concentration is CR4/CR10 (cumulative_market_share at ranks 4/10), independent of limit. $0.10 per query.

Query parameters

statestring

2-letter/territory jurisdiction code (incl. DC, AS/GU/MP/PR/VI), or the pseudo-jurisdictions CAN/AOA. Omitted -> countrywide (see scope).

scope'us' | 'us_alien'

Only meaningful when state is omitted. "us" (default): states + U.S. territories. "us_alien": states + territories + Canada + aggregate other alien.

linestring

A NAIC line_code (see GET /v1/carriers/lines) or a category bucket (e.g. "property") -- a category expands to every matching line_code, each returned as its own block in lines. Default "total_all_lines".

yearinteger

Data year, e.g. 2024. Default: the latest year loaded.

limitinteger

1-125, default 10. State tables max out at 10 naturally (top-10 per jurisdiction).

One block per resolved line_code (a single-element array unless line was a category).
