Offer A Shift

Put one of your own shifts up for a colleague to take.

⛔NOT AN APPROVAL QUEUE. Frederick, 2026-09-04: "rooster allows them to swap shifts around amongst themselves as long as they show up to work." Your own shift only, and the session says whose it is.

⛔AND IT IS NO LONGER ONLY A BOARD. Putting a shift up is an EMPLOYEE REQUEST (Track E12), so it gets an owner in the same breath: a row in employee_requests whose owner_work_id is a swap_shift piece of executive work. Rooster then finds an eligible replacement, asks them, places the winner through swaps.take and tells both sides -- instead of the offer sitting on a board until a colleague happens to look.

⛔THE KEY IS THE OFFER'S OWN ID, WHICH MAKES THIS IDEMPOTENT FOR FREE. swaps.offer upserts on one live offer per shift, so posting twice returns the same offer and therefore the same request and the same work -- never a second round of messages to real people.
