Chronograms (Hidden Dates) (藏年銘文)

CHRONOGRAMS — dates hidden in sentences: the Renaissance and Baroque art of composing a motto whose ROMAN-NUMERAL LETTERS sum to a year, carved over church doors, struck on coins, closing epitaphs across Europe for three centuries. Read the capitals, add M, D, C, L, X, V and I — and the sentence tells you when. THE CLASSICS ARE LAWS, verified at load: 'LorD haVe MerCIe Vpon Vs' — London's plague motto — sums to 1666 EXACTLY, and the coin struck for Gustavus Adolphus ('ChrIstVs DVX ergo trIVMphVs') to 1632, the year the king fell at Lützen; both PURE (every numeral letter enlisted — the strict form the connoisseurs prized), both proven in both counting modes. THE ENGRAVER'S CONVENTIONS asserted: U counts as V, J as I, W as two V's. The engine reads any text, returns the letter-by-letter breakdown, verifies an expected year, and GRADES PURITY (lowercase numerals lurking uncounted fail the purists' bar). The Ottoman abjad chronogram (tarih) named as the sibling tradition, not blended. Western becomes fifty. Pure compute, no LLM.
