Panchak (पंचक) (五宿凶期)
PANCHAK — the North Indian almanac's five-day caution window: whenever the Moon transits the last five nakshatras (Dhanishtha's second half through Revati — exactly sidereal Aquarius and Pisces), the panchang marks Panchak, and roof-laying, bed-making, southward journeys and certain rites wait; the window's ONSET WEEKDAY names its type — Rog (Sun), Raj (Mon, held favourable), Agni (Tue), Chor (Fri), Mrityu (Sat), with Wednesday/Thursday onsets ordinary (Samanya), carrying no dosha. THE RULE IS EXACT GEOMETRY — Dhanishtha's second half opens at precisely 0° Aquarius, so the window is the sidereal Moon in [300°, 360°), boundaries root-found to the minute. ANCHORED AT LOAD to the published 2026 tables (IST): the 21–25 January window's begin AND end and the 23 September onset each reproduced within three hours by the project's own Moon ephemeris — two independent computations meeting on minute-level published timings — plus the Wednesday-onset type check and the 4–6-day duration law. Returns active/next window with type, the Moon's current nakshatra of the five, and the tradition's postponement customs framed as caution, not paralysis. DISTINCT from the catalogue's Kerala panchaka (the mod-9 rule) — two systems, one name, both served and cross-referenced. Indian becomes 28. Pure compute, no LLM.
