Vimshottari Dasha (大运)

Vimshottari Dasha (विंशोत्तरी दशा) — the master Vedic timing engine and the most-consulted predictive technique in Jyotish. The 120-year cycle, anchored on the Moon's birth nakshatra, apportions life into planetary periods nested three deep: Maha-dasha (major chapter) ⊃ Antar-dasha/bhukti (sub-period) ⊃ Pratyantar-dasha (sub-sub-period). Returns the full dated timeline — nine Maha-dashas with Gregorian start/end dates, each subdivided into its nine Antar-dashas — plus the live Maha→Antar→Pratyantar stack at any reference date (defaults to today) with percent-elapsed and years-remaining. Needs only the Moon, so no birthplace is required — and WITHOUT a birth time the engine DECIDES what the missing time can change (timeSensitivity): the starting lord is certified when the Moon holds one nakshatra all day, or both possible lords, their balances and the flip minute are named when it does not, and the LLM reading frames itself accordingly. Lord years Ketu 7·Venus 20·Sun 6·Moon 10·Mars 7·Rahu 18·Jupiter 16·Saturn 19·Mercury 17 (Σ=120); sub-periods proportional (parentYears × childLordYears / 120) and summing exactly to their parent; 365.25-day dasha-year default with an optional 360-day savana mode. Locked by unit test against AstroSage's published table for Einstein (balance and boundaries to ≤2 days) and Gandhi's attested Jupiter-Venus at death, with hard structural invariants and a cross-check against our jyotish engine. The astronomy is grounded; dasha timing is a symbolic clock for reflection, not prediction of fixed events.
