Ming & Qing Reign Eras (年號) (明清年號)
CHINESE REIGN ERAS OF THE MING AND QING (年號) — the dating of three centuries of porcelain marks, book colophons, land deeds and memorials: from Hongwu's founding (1368) to Xuantong's abdication (1912), every year of Chinese life was named era + year (康熙六十一年, 乾隆元年, 光緒二十六年). The Hongwu Emperor began the ONE-ERA-PER-MONARCH tradition — which is why Ming and Qing emperors are known by their era names at all. THE 27-ERA TABLE PROVES ITSELF AT LOAD: strict continuity from Hongwu to Xuantong with exactly TWO year-sharing seams served as data (Taichang, the one-month emperor, sharing 1620 with Wanli's last year; the Ming–Qing transition at 1644); THE FILIAL INEQUALITY — Kangxi's 61 years and Qianlong's deliberate 60, the grandson refusing to out-reign the grandfather, asserted as arithmetic; the Boxer-year cell (1900 = 光緒26) and the revolution cell (1911 = 宣統3). Converts BOTH WAYS (CE ↔ era + year, pinyin or hanzi, 元年 rendered properly); the yuannian lunar-new-year convention and its January caveat carried; pre-Ming eras (the changeable-nianhao age) out of scope BY NAME. Eastern becomes seventy. Pure compute, no LLM.
