Gross leverage ratio over time, derived from Federal Reserve Z.1 hedge funds sector. Formula: total financial and nonfinancial assets / total net assets. Net assets is the equity-component analog (assets minus liabilities). A ratio of 3.0 means the sector holds $3 in gross assets per $1 of equity. Two FRED series fetched in parallel and joined by date. Default last 40 quarters.
