Return count of content items, optionally filtered by status.

With ?groupBy=uploadStatus, returns every upload-status count plus the total in a single query/response — the portal library previously fired 5 separate count requests per page load to paint its filter badges. The no-groupBy shape is unchanged for back-compat.
