The customer's month-end checklist for its close target: the oldest open GL period that has ended, the same period readiness, the closing-entry preview and lock use. Steps are created for that period. With no ended open period the response is status: nothing_to_close with null period, periodKey and deadline and no sections; the calendar month is never substituted.
