Estimated monthly payment including Canadian vehicle taxes
Financing arithmetic plus provincial vehicle tax for one transaction. Pass price and province, or a vin from our data and we fill both in.
The interest rate is always an input. There is no public source for Canadian auto-loan APRs — the Bank of Canada publishes policy and prime only, and we hold no finance data — so we never imply we know a buyer's rate. Supply apr, or name a rate_source from /v1/payment/rates. Every response echoes rate_source naming who answered, so a future lender feed becomes a new source rather than a breaking change.
Everything here is an estimate, not tax advice. Provincial vehicle tax is not one rate: Alberta charges GST only; Ontario charges HST at a dealer but 13% RST on the greater of price or wholesale value on a private sale; British Columbia runs six luxury brackets with different private-sale rules; Quebec stacks QST on GST. The federal luxury tax applies above CA$100,000 on new vehicles. The table is versioned — taxes.as_of is the date it was last reviewed.

Query parameters
Vehicle price in CAD. Required unless vin is given.
VIN of a live listing; fills in price, province and condition.
Two-letter province or territory. Required unless supplied by vin.
Annual interest rate, percent. Sets rate_source=caller.
Which resolver supplies the rate. caller uses your apr; boc_prime / boc_policy use the cached Bank of Canada benchmark plus your rate_spread. Enumerate the live list at /v1/payment/rates.
Points added to a benchmark rate source. Your assumption, not ours.
Loan term, 1-120. Default 60.
Cash down in CAD.
Trade-in value in CAD. Reduces the taxable amount at a dealer.
Taxable dealer fees in CAD (documentation, freight).
Dealer or private sale — the tax differs, sometimes greatly.
new or used. Decides whether the federal luxury tax applies.
Response
taxes with every line itemised, the taxable amount, the table's as_of date, the source and province-specific notes; rate with the APR and the rate_source that supplied it; financing with the amount financed, monthly payment, total paid and total interest; total_cost; and a disclaimer.
