The official INE series the barometer is checked against

Open data (CC BY 4.0, source INE). Licensed buildings and dwellings per municipality, and resident population, exactly as INE publishes them — no processing of ours beyond reshaping. Each row carries the exact INE API call it came from and the date INE last updated that indicator. Note on municipality_code: it is DICOFRE on the mainland, but for the thirty municipalities of the Azores and Madeira it is the tax authority's own code (Funchal is 2203, not 3103), because that is the key the rest of this site uses. municipality_as_ine_publishes_it carries INE's own name for the row.
