Hesiod's Days (赫西俄德吉凶日)
HESIOD'S DAYS — the oldest day-augury in the Greek world: the hemerology closing the Works and Days (lines 765–828, c. 700 BCE), where each day of the lunar month carries its verdicts — the holy first, fourth and seventh (Apollo's birthday), the twelfth when 'the airy-swinging spider spins its web in full day', the dread fifths on which the Erinyes attended the birth of Oath, the great twentieth for the birth of a wise man, the thrice-nine twenty-seventh for broaching the wine-jar. All 21 attested days served with their verdicts, and Hesiod's OWN verdict for the unmarked days ('changeable, luckless, and bring nothing') — never silence. TWO WITNESSES DIFFED DAY-FOR-DAY: Evelyn-White (Loeb 1914, the named verbatim witness) against Mair (Clarendon 1908), agreeing on every attested day, their one construal difference disclosed rather than blended. THE FAMOUS CRUX SERVED AS A CRUX: line 798's fateful 'fourth of the waning' is day 27 by backward count or day 24 by forward count — flagged on both candidate days, ruled on neither, exactly as two millennia of scholarship has left it. Ask by day number (Hesiod's own frame) or by date — the lunation count anchored at load by PHYSICS: total solar eclipses are conjunctions, and the published 2024 and 2026 eclipse instants must fall out exactly. Greek becomes five systems. Pure compute, no LLM.
