Jobs

Estimate a job's runtime and compute cost without submitting it

Returns the SAME runtime + weighted-hours estimate the /submit-job budget gate computes, without submitting — read-only, costs nothing, consumes no quota. Use it to plan a run, compare tools, or budget a design loop BEFORE spending compute.

settings may also be an ARRAY, to quote a whole batch in one call (same shape /validate-job takes). Every row is priced and the response carries one quote per row in results, in input order, plus numJobs and computeHours totals. A row that cannot be priced carries its own error in place instead of failing the call. Up to 30,000 rows per call (the /submit-batch job ceiling); the binding limit for large rows is the ~4.5 MB request-body cap, enforced ahead of this endpoint — split on BYTES as well as rows.

computeHours (the compute-hour billing unit, the number the submit budget gate checks) is returned to Premium users only, mirroring the website; free-tier callers get the runtime estimate plus a note. The estimate is ADVISORY: a transient failure answers 503 with retriable: true rather than a quote, and submission never requires one.

Request body

typestring required
jobNamestring

Optional.

versionstring

Optional. Pin the quote to a specific custom-tool build (the same version you would pass to /tools/{name}/schema and /submit-job).

Response

The quote. Single-payload mode returns one estimate; array mode returns per-row results plus totals.

jobTypestring
numJobsinteger

How many jobs would be submitted (totalled across rows in array mode) — e.g. multiple sequences fan out.

runtimeinteger

Wall-clock estimate for ONE job, in seconds.

computeHoursnumber

Total weighted (compute) hours across the whole submission — the billing unit the submit budget gate checks. Premium callers only.

notestring

Present instead of computeHours for free-tier callers.

countinteger

Array mode — how many rows were sent.

estimated_countinteger

Array mode — how many rows quoted successfully.
