Site Hit

A page was opened, or something worth counting happened. Answers 204 either way: a beacon is sent as the page unloads and nothing must wait on it.

The body is read and parsed here rather than declared as a parameter, because navigator .sendBeacon posts it as text/plain. That is deliberate: a text/plain POST is a simple request, so the browser sends it straight out instead of asking permission first, and a count is not worth a second round trip.
