Get installed generation capacity

Get installed generation capacity for a zone.

The endpoint serves source-specific installed generation capacity in MW:

  • source=entsoe returns ENTSO-E Transparency Platform article 14.1.A document type A68 at annual cadence (P1Y). This is the default wherever ENTSO-E is configured; ember and gem act as fallback defaults for zones without it.
  • source=ember returns Ember monthly country-level installed wind and solar capacity at monthly cadence (P1M) where Ember has coverage.
  • source=gem returns annual country-level operating wind and utility-scale solar capacity (P1Y) derived from Global Energy Monitor tracker summary sheets. Utility-scale only: rooftop/distributed solar and wind projects below 10 MW are not counted.

Use the default breakdown=fuel for Rebase fuel rollups such as wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear. Use breakdown=psr with source=entsoe when you need raw ENTSO-E PSR columns, for example B18 for wind offshore and B19 for wind onshore. Ember does not expose ENTSO-E PSR columns and only supports breakdown=fuel.

datetime and period_end describe the upstream validity period. For ENTSO-E these values should be interpreted as annual stock/reference values for that period, not as exact measurements taken at period_end. For Ember they mark the monthly capacity period.

Data source to query. Supported values: entsoe, ember, gem. Defaults to entsoe, the only source with a consistent full-fuel breakdown across zones; zones without ENTSO-E fall back to ember, then gem. Ember and GEM (wind/solar only) can always be requested explicitly.

fuel returns Rebase fuel rollups; psr returns raw ENTSO-E PSR columns such as B18 and B19 for source=entsoe.

startstring date-time nullable

Start of time range (ISO 8601). Default: 2015-01-01. Installed-capacity periods that overlap the requested range are returned.

endstring date-time nullable

End of time range (ISO 8601). Default: now. Installed-capacity periods that overlap the requested range are returned.
