User + paying-user distribution across institution tier / type / name.

Answers "who actually uses this, and who pays" — segmented by the derived users.institution_* columns (app/institutions.py) and scoped to one research domain, since a humanities Pro and an omics Pro are different businesses.

paid counts users with an active PAID subscription in domain. Free grants (promo/trial/admin) are reported separately as granted and are never folded into paid — the 2026-07 humanities promo would otherwise make every tier look like it converts at 97%.

unresolved lists the most common institution strings the reference table doesn't recognise yet — the work queue for growing institutions.json.
