Age spread for one name
How old the living people with a first name are: the median age and the ranges that hold the middle half and the middle 80% of them. "Brittany" in the US: median 36, half between 32 and 38. One credit per name.
It describes a group, not a person. For most names the middle half spans 10 to 25 years, so a single person can be far from the median. Use it for audience analysis, segments and research, never to decide anything about one person (credit, hiring, housing, insurance, eligibility, age checks).
Method: registered births by name, sex and year, each year multiplied by the share of that birth cohort still alive (SSA cohort life tables, Actuarial Study 120). Covered: US (SSA births 1880–2024), France (INSEE 1900–2025) and Norway (SSB 1945–2025, so people born earlier are missing). Births abroad are not in any series, which makes names common among immigrants look younger than they are. The SSA life table is used for France and Norway as well. Another country gives reason: country_not_covered and costs nothing.
