Pre-auth poll — let the /verify-email waiting screen detect when the user clicks the verification link from another device (mobile inbox, different browser…) since BroadcastChannel/storage events don't cross browser processes. Returns {"verified": bool}; always 200 to avoid leaking which emails are registered.
