Download a document's file
Use this to fetch the original file of a document (the PDF, scan, spreadsheet or picture that was uploaded or emailed), for archiving it or reading what extraction did not cover. The body is the file, sent as an attachment with its own Content-Type and file name in Content-Disposition. Only a document whose downloadable is true has one: a document without a file, or whose file has not passed the security scan (still being scanned, or blocked), is a 404.

Path parameters
The document id (doc_ prefix). An id from another organization, with another prefix, or of a document that is not current, is a 404.
Headers
The API version to build this response for, for example 2026-10-01. Optional: without it the organization's pinned version is used (and the organization is pinned to the latest version on its first request without the header). Applies to this request only. An unpublished version is a 400 with code invalid_version.
Response
The file, with the content type it was stored with.
