Get a person by ID
Changed onUse this endpoint to retrieve the full details of a single person from your Atlas account by their ID.
This is the endpoint to use when you already know which person you want - for example, after finding them via the Search endpoint, receiving their ID from a webhook, or storing it from a previous Create call. It returns everything Atlas knows about the person in one response.
What you need to provide: Just the person's ID in the URL path (e.g. /api/v1/people/abc-123). Person IDs are UUIDs returned by other endpoints like Search, Lookup, or Create.
What you get back: The person's full profile - basic info, profile photo (avatarUrl), identities, headline, address, work experience, education, compensation, custom attributes, source, and metadata.
Merged people: When people are merged in Atlas, the result is a new person record with a new ID, and every original ID stops being a live person. Requesting an original ID here does not return 404: the response is 200 with the surviving person's full data, data.id is the surviving ID, and merged is { fromId, toId }, where fromId is the ID you requested and toId is the surviving ID (this endpoint follows the merge chain when the person a record was merged into was itself merged later). Replace any stored reference to fromId with toId. For a live person, merged is null.
Only this endpoint follows merges. Other endpoints treat a merged-away ID as a missing person (PATCH /api/v1/people/{id}, for example, returns 404), so resolve an old ID here before using it elsewhere. Merged-away people appear in List people with includeDeleted=true as tombstones whose mergedToId names the person they were merged into; deleted people appear there with mergedToId: null.
If no person exists with the given ID in your agency, or the person was deleted without being merged, the endpoint returns a 404 error.
