Get Consumption
Get total system load (consumption) for a zone.
Returns time series of total electricity consumption in MW.
Multi-source: Use ?source= to select a specific data source, or omit to use the zone's preferred source. Use GET /v1/zones/{zone_key} to see available sources.
The virtual source energy_balance composes load from production, storage discharge, and net exchange flows. Prefer it for zones with pumped storage (DE, CH, AT, PT, ...) where the ENTSO-E raw A65 value over-reports relative to EM's definition.
Response fields:
- load_mw: Total system load in megawatts.
- source: The data source used for this response.

Path parameters
Query parameters
Data source to query. Options include real upstream sources (e.g. entsoe, energy_charts) plus the virtual source energy_balance, which computes load from production + storage_discharge − net_exports. Omit to use the zone's preferred source.
Endpoint variant for sources that publish multiple semantically distinct series. Example: ?source=bmrs&variant=itsdo returns Elexon's transmission-boundary demand (ITSDO); omitting the parameter selects the source's configured default_variant from config/sources.yaml (b0610 for bmrs = A65). Sources without a variants block ignore this parameter.
Output cadence the caller asked for on a series endpoint.
NATIVE means: leave the series at its upstream cadence and leave holes as null where data is missing. The other members snap the series onto a uniform grid: 5M, 15M, 30M, 1H.
Output cadence. native (default) emits the series at its upstream cadence with null where data is missing. 5M/15M/30M/1H resample onto the uniform grid: mean-downsample if the target is coarser, ffill-upsample (carrying each value across one upstream interval) if finer.
Start of time range (ISO 8601). Default: 24h ago.
End of time range (ISO 8601). Default: now.
