Sanctions

Screen a name against sanctions lists (BETA)

BETA. Do not use as the sole sanctions control until announced GA.

Trigram fuzzy match of a person or entity name against the EU consolidated list, the UN sanctions list, OFAC, and the UK Sanctions List. Returns matched entities with confidence scores. Names in non-Latin scripts (Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic and others) are transliterated to Latin letters, in the query and in the listed names, before matching, so a name sent in its own script (Руслан Александрович Ромашкин) and the same name in Latin spelling (Ruslan Aleksandrovich Romashkin) match the same listed entity.

Name to screen

thresholdinteger

Minimum match-confidence percentage (50–100)

entity_type'person' | 'company' | 'vessel' | 'aircraft' | 'unknown' | 'any' | 'entity'

Filter by entity type. Stored values: person, company, vessel, aircraft, unknown (the list does not say). any (or omitted) applies no filter; entity is a legacy alias of company. Any other value is a 400 validation_error.

limitinteger
include_pepboolean

Also screen against politically exposed persons (BETA, Spain only, from Wikidata) and return a separate pep block. Membership is by OCCUPATION, not office: 44% of the set has no recorded office and local officials (6,108) outnumber national ones (3,191). Every hit carries positions[], pep_tier and has_current_office. Deceased people are never returned: a person is deceased when Wikidata records a date of death, and one born 100 or more years ago with no recorded death is presumed deceased; a deceased person never has a current office. Contains NO relatives or close associates, so it does not by itself satisfy a FATF PEP obligation. Omitted entirely unless requested.

pep_min_tier'national' | 'regional' | 'local'

Only return PEP hits at or above this tier. Omit to receive every hit including those with no recorded office — suppressing them by default would hide 44% of the set behind a threshold you never set.

group'entity'

Set to entity to fold hits into one row per listed person or company: the best-scoring listing's fields plus lists[] (distinct source lists) and sources[] (every listing with its own id, program, dates, notice_url and match_score). Default keeps one row per listing; meta.distinct_entities and meta.hit_count are reported in both modes.
