Activate physical card

Activate a physical card.

A physical card is initially blocked for transactions until activated. This prevents unauthorized use until the cardholder takes delivery. You do not have to activate a card to tokenize it for a digital wallet.

Notes

  • Besides activating a new card, you can use this endpoint to activate (renew) an old card with a new expiration date. For more information, refer to the Card renewal guide.

  • This endpoint generates a Card updated event. For activation, operation_type = ACTIVATE. For renewal, operation_type = EXPIRATION_DATE_RENEWED.

  • The card was successfully unblocked—The card was activated and its status changed to NORMAL.

  • Expiration date successfully updated—A scheduled expiration date renewal was applied and the card's status was kept unchanged. enum:

  • "Expiration date successfully updated"
