Self-verification of an L2-J citation against the jurisdiction's case-law corpus
Parses the citation (neutral citation, ECLI, ROJ, colloquial format), looks up the canonical document in the jurisdiction's corpus and optionally compares it against claim_text (Jaccard 0.35). Cost: 0 LLM. Returns one of: verified | mismatch | not_found | pending | not_verifiable (jurisdiction with no verification corpus wired up). PARTY-NAME CHECK (2026-07-27): when the citation carries the case name next to it ('Spandeck Engineering (S) Pte Ltd v Defence Science & Technology Agency [2007] SGHC 37'), the name is checked against the decision the citation resolves to. Incompatible → mismatch with citation.mismatchKind: "party", citation.party_check: "mismatch", both names (cited_case_name / canonical_case_name), a note stating that the citation EXISTS but points to a different decision, and — when located — the correct sibling citation in citation.suggested_citation. A citation written WITHOUT a case name behaves exactly as before (party_check: "no_name"); if the corpus record has no canonical case name the check does NOT run and says so (party_check: "unavailable" + note). note travels on every status (additive).
