D-A-CH / DGE energy requirement

Daily energy requirement for the German/Austrian/Swiss (D-A-CH) reference framework: resting energy after the Müller et al. (2004) equation the DGE uses, scaled by a PAL activity factor. Returns resting energy, the requirement at the chosen PAL, and a table at PAL 1.4 / 1.6 / 1.8. Adults only — the DGE derives this equation for adults and publishes table reference values for children and adolescents instead.

Cites its source in every response: source (the formula + published reference) and canonical_url (https://myplate.food/ernaehrungspyramide/energiebedarf), plus a disclaimer.

Query parameters

sex'male' | 'female' required

Biological sex — drives the equation.

ageinteger required

Age in years (19–120). The DGE derives resting energy from Müller (2004) for adults only; under 19 it publishes table reference values instead, which this endpoint does not compute.

weight_kgnumber

Weight in kilograms (or weight_lb).

weight_lbnumber

Weight in pounds.

palnumber

Physical Activity Level factor (default 1.6, DGE range 1.2–2.4).

Response

Calculation result with citation envelope.

calculatorstring required

The endpoint name.

inputsobject

The parsed, normalized inputs the result was computed from.

sourcestring required

The formula and published reference behind the number.

canonical_urlstring uri required

The matching myplate.food page.

disclaimerstring

Present on health calculators.
