media

The slug-keyed URL this site served until the artwork moved to the bucket.

Kept because these are not only in old bookmarks. og:image is an ABSOLUTE url — https://getcheapgames.com/media/covers/<slug>/616.jpg — so every link ever shared to Facebook, X, Discord, WhatsApp or LinkedIn carries this shape, and their scrapers re-fetch it. Dropping it would break the preview image on shares that already exist, which is the one part of this migration a visitor would actually see.

302, not 301. A slug is not permanently bound to a product: retitling frees the old one and the reclaim pass can hand it to a different row, so a permanent redirect cached in a browser could one day point at the wrong game's art. A day of caching keeps the cost to one extra hop per client per day, and leaves us able to change our minds.
