Get Freight Market Data for Lane
This endpoint allows permissioned users to retrieve comprehensive freight market data for a specific trucking lane, providing real-time market rates and indices in a single API call.
For more information about getting access to this endpoint or using this endpoint, please reach out to our Customer Success team (cs@gosonar.com).
Returns current market data including TRAC rates, freight market indices, and lane scoring metrics for the specified origin-destination pair and equipment type.
This endpoint handles the following input fields:
- origin: ZIP3 or ZIP5 code for the shipment origin (e.g., "123" or "12345"), required
- destination: ZIP3 or ZIP5 code for the shipment destination (e.g., "456" or "45678"), required
- equipment_type: Type of trucking equipment - must be one of: "VAN", "REEFER", or "FLATBED", required
- miles: Specific lane distance in miles for rate calculations. If not provided, the system will calculate the miles automatically based on origin and destination. Must be a positive number if provided, optional
Here are the output fields returned in a successful call:
- origin: The Zip3/Zip5 code for the lane origin, as provided in the request
- destination: The Zip3/Zip5 code for the lane destination, as provided in the request
- miles: The lane distance in miles
- trac_rate: The median total (linehaul plus fuel surcharge) rate that corresponds to the origin, destination and equipment_type provided in the API call by the client
- trac_rate_high: The high-end (67th percentile) total (linehaul plus fuel surcharge) rate that corresponds to the origin, destination and equipment_type provided in the API call by the client
- trac_rate_low: The low-end (33rd percentile) total (linehaul plus fuel surcharge) rate that corresponds to the origin, destination and equipment_type provided in the API call by the client
- trac_rpm: The median total (linehaul plus fuel surcharge) rate-per-mile that corresponds to the origin, destination and equipment_type provided in the API call by the client
- trac_rpm_high: The high-end (67th percentile) total (linehaul plus fuel surcharge) rate-per-mile that corresponds to the origin, destination and equipment_type provided in the API call by the client
- trac_rpm_low: The low-end (33rd percentile) total (linehaul plus fuel surcharge) rate-per-mile that corresponds to the origin, destination and equipment_type provided in the API call by the client
- nti_usa_value: The National Truckload Index value for the USA
- otri_origin_market: The Outbound Tender Rejection Index value for the origin market
- otvi_origin_market: The Outbound Tender Volume Index value for the origin market
- csteu_usa_value: The US Customs Maritime Import TEUs value for the USA
- orail_usa_value: The Total Outbound Rail Container Volume value for the USA
- haul_value: The Headhaul Index (HAUL) for the destination market of the requested lane. It is the difference between that market's outbound and inbound tender volume indices (OTVI minus ITVI, or the van and reefer equivalents for VHAUL and RHAUL): negative is inbound heavy (backhaul market), positive is outbound heavy (headhaul market). Uses the equipment-specific index when one exists (VHAUL for VAN, RHAUL for REEFER) and falls back to the general HAUL index otherwise (FLATBED always uses HAUL)
- sonar_lane_score: The lane score for the requested lane
- equipment_type: The type of trucking equipment used in the request returned
