What is a CIK?

The CIK is the SEC's unique identifier for entities that file with them. It's a 10-digit number (though leading zeros are often omitted). Examples:

  • Apple Inc.: 320193
  • Microsoft Corporation: 789019
  • Berkshire Hathaway: 1067983
