Starlink Density

Compute current thermospheric density from Starlink orbit decay.

Uses the drag equation to invert the observed decay rate into atmospheric mass density at the satellite altitude.

Parameters

altitude_km : float Satellite altitude in km (default 550). decay_rate_m_s : float Observed orbital decay rate in m/s. drag_coeff : float Satellite drag coefficient (default 2.2).
