Search LactMed
Search LactMed, the NIH (NICHD) Drugs and Lactation Database: one record per drug, herbal, dietary supplement, vaccine or exposure (about 1,970) used by nursing mothers, each with a summary of use during lactation, measured drug levels in breastmilk and infant blood (often as a percentage of the maternal weight-adjusted dose), effects in breastfed infants, effects on lactation and breastmilk, alternate drugs to consider, references with PMIDs, and the record's revision date. Brand and other names are searchable. Copied weekly from NLM's open access archive; it is the primary LactMed source, ahead of LactMed excerpts in PubChem. Not a substitute for clinical judgment: cite the record and its revision date.
