Dogon Sigui (Sixty-Year Ceremony) (多貢六十年祭)

THE DOGON SIGUI — the sixty-year ceremony, the longest ritual cycle regularly kept on earth: once every sixty years the Dogon of the Bandiagara escarpment begin SEVEN consecutive years of ceremonies that TRAVEL — opening at Youga Dogorou and moving village by village southwest to end at Songo — while the GREAT MASK is carved from a single trunk, one for each Sigui. THE GENERATION LAW asserted: sixty years is the reach of living memory — no one attends three Siguis (2 × 60 outruns a lifespan) — so each generation carries the ceremony to one it will never see: the cycle IS the transmission. THE FILM WITNESS: the 1967–1973 Sigui is anthropology’s best-documented ritual cycle — Rouch and Dieterlen filmed ALL SEVEN YEARS, one dated film per year (the sequence asserted). THE NEXT WINDOW: 1967 + 60 = 2027 (asserted) — but the engine refuses to schedule another people’s ceremony: the window is arithmetic, the decision belongs to the Dogon elders. THE SIRIUS FILE served as the three-position scholarly dispute it is (Griaule–Dieterlen 1950, van Beek’s 1991 restudy, the rebuttals) — with the ancient-astronaut edifice REFUSED BY NAME: the Sigui needs no aliens to be extraordinary. A forty-ninth tradition opens. Pure compute and served record, no LLM.
