Rapa Nui

Mamari Lunar Calendar (Rongorongo) (復活節島月曆板)

THE MAMARI LUNAR CALENDAR — the one passage of RONGORONGO, Easter Island’s undeciphered script, whose meaning scholars agree on: lines Ca6–Ca9 of the Mamari tablet carry the old Rapa Nui month — 28 nights PLUS TWO INSERTABLE ONES with the full moon (omotohi) at the exact center, a delimiter repeated EIGHT times, and fish glyphs riding the crescents. Not a diary: a RULE-BOOK — the tablet teaches where the extra nights go to keep the named nights true to the sky. THE ELASTIC-MONTH LAW asserted: 28+1 = 29 ≤ 29.53 ≤ 30 = 28+2 — the structure IS the intercalation arithmetic. THE FISH LAW from the glyphs themselves: waxing fish swim HEAD-UP, waning HEAD-DOWN. THE 1886 ANCHOR proven from the sky at load: Thomson’s year-list oddly held THIRTEEN months — and the astronomy engine confirms 1886 contained THIRTEEN new moons (with 1887’s twelve as control): his informants were reciting the living year. The kokore ‘nothing’ nights carried; the three recorders’ rosters cited as recensions, never blended; no date conversion — the tablet is a rule-book, not an ephemeris. A FIFTIETH tradition opens. Pure compute and served scholarship, no LLM.
