# Delete file

`DELETE /files/{file_id}`

Delete an existing file. Only the owner of the file may delete it.

## Path parameters

- `file_id` string, required

## Response `204`

The file was deleted successfully.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid file ID
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: File not found.
- `410`: File expired
- `500`: Internal Server Error
