# Start Oauth

`GET /v1/va/lighthouse/auth/start`

## Request

Initiate Login.gov OAuth flow.

Redirects the veteran to Login.gov where they authenticate.
After authentication, Login.gov redirects back to /auth/callback.

Query params:
    claim_id: the case to connect: requires the caller's session on it (``_starter_for_case``). Without
        one, the sign-in only verifies veteran status and stores nothing.
