# Dispose Asset

`POST /companies/{company_id}/gl/fixed-assets/{asset_id}/dispose`

Dispose of a fixed asset: cost and accumulated depreciation leave the books, the net
proceeds land on ``proceeds_account_id``, the difference is the category's gain or loss.

``reason`` is ``scrapped`` (no proceeds), ``sold`` (proceeds) or ``withdrawn`` (by the
owner, or a gift — no proceeds); omitted, it follows the proceeds. A **sale** at a
company that is VAT-registered, or has not said it is not, names the posted customer
invoice that sold the asset in ``sale_document_id`` — the invoice carries the VAT and
must credit ``proceeds_account_id`` with exactly the net ``proceeds`` in the disposal's
fiscal year (``invalid.assetSaleNeedsInvoice`` / ``invalid.assetSaleInvoice``). A
withdrawal is refused for such a company (a VAT self-supply Zeno does not compute yet).
409 when the asset is already disposed of, or has depreciation booked after the disposal
date (reverse that first). The posting is reversible; a reversal puts the asset back.
