# Create Gl Fiscal Year

`POST /companies/{company_id}/gl/fiscal-years`

Open a fiscal year (accountant). 409 on a duplicate label or an overlapping range.

The year is created **with its monthly periods** — one per calendar month of the
range, the first and last clipped to it (ZET-441) — so there is no period to create
by hand afterwards. A range wider than 24 months is refused (422).

The year owns its own chart of accounts, and a new one starts **empty** — set
``carry_forward_chart`` to copy the most recent earlier year's chart into it as part
of the create (ZCT-261). Left off, the chart is materialised lazily, the first time
something codes into the year; ``POST …/{fiscal_year_id}/carry-forward-chart`` is the
same copy on demand for a year that already exists.
