# Suppress a contact

`POST /api/v1/suppressions`

## Request

Adds an account-wide exclusion and stops any in-flight sequences for that person. Idempotent: suppressing an already-suppressed contact returns 201 with `already_suppressed: true`.

## Other responses

- `400`: Malformed JSON, missing url, or `no_identity`.
- `401`: Missing, malformed or invalid Authorization header, or an unknown API key.
- `403`: The key is valid but the account's plan does not include API access.
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded (100 requests/minute). Carries `Retry-After`.
- `500`: Unhandled server error.
