# Reset Password

`POST /admin/people/{user_id}/reset-password`

## Request

A temporary password for someone who forgot theirs, returned once (decision 234).

What ``zalia reset-password`` does: their own password stops working, every
session they have is signed out, and they choose a new one when they next
sign in. No email is sent: the admin hands it over. 409 ``platform-admin``
for a platform admin, whose password is reset on the server, so that a
platform admin's stolen session cannot take another admin's account; 409
``account-deactivated`` for an account that cannot sign in anyway.
