# Website Rank API

`GET /api/v1/domain/rank`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://xranks.com`
- URL: `https://xranks.com/api/v1/domain/rank`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Look up where a website ranks among the most visited sites in the world, and roughly how many people visit it every day. Rank 1 is the most visited site. The rank blends several public traffic panels; see the methodology page for how it is built.

Use cases: Score leads or partners by audience size; Sort a list of domains by popularity; Track a competitor’s rank over time.

## Query parameters

- `domain` string, required

## Response `200`

Data for the domain. May instead be an Error object (HTTP 200) when the domain is unknown.

    - `domain` string, required: The domain you asked for, normalised (no scheme, no www).
    - `rank` integer, nullable, required: Global Xranks rank. 1 = most visited. null when the site is not ranked.
    - `estimated_daily_users` integer, nullable, required: Estimated unique visitors per day.

    - `error` string, required: Human-readable message.
    - `code` 'missing_api_key' | 'invalid_api_key' | 'inactive_api_key' | 'quota_exceeded' | 'invalid_domain' | 'domain_not_found' | 'no_data' | 'unknown_service' | 'too_many_domains' | 'invalid_request': Stable machine-readable code.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing, invalid or inactive API key.
- `429`: Quota used up for the rolling 30 days (or the batch needs more lookups than are left).
