# POST /api/v1/subscribe

`POST /api/v1/subscribe`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://xquik.com`
- URL: `https://xquik.com/api/v1/subscribe`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - HTTP bearer

Create a subscription checkout URL or a billing page link only after the user confirms. The request never completes payment by itself. An account with a plan gets the dashboard billing page, where the user signs in to manage billing.

  - `tier` 'starter' | 'pro' | 'business': Subscription tier to pre-select.

## Response `200`

  - `url` string, uri, required: Checkout URL, or the dashboard billing page for an account with a plan.
  - `status` 'checkout_created' | 'already_subscribed' | 'payment_issue', required
  - `message` string, required

## Other responses

- `401`: Unauthenticated
- `429`: Too many requests right now. Each user gets 500 reads a second. Each minute allows 120 writes & 60 deletes. `x_api_rate_limited` means X limits this read for now. Neither answer costs anything. Wait for the seconds in `Retry-After`, then retry.
- `500`: Unexpected error.
- `4XX`: Client error. The error code says what to fix.
- `default`: Unexpected error.
