# Create post monitor

`POST /api/v1/monitors/posts`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://xquik.com`
- URL: `https://xquik.com/api/v1/monitors/posts`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - HTTP bearer

Creates a monitor for 1 X post. It tracks replies, quotes, edits, deletion & 6 metrics, for 30 credits an hour with events & webhook deliveries included. That hourly price is a monitor's only charge. Creation needs the credits of the first hour & reads the post once.

## Request body

- object
  - `post` string, required: Post link or ID. x.com, twitter.com, mobile & /i/web/status/ links work with any query string.
  - `name` string, nullable: Your own label for the post monitor. Its events carry it as monitorName.
  - `eventTypes` PostEventType[]: Post event types to send. Without it, a monitor sends new replies, new quotes, like & retweet changes, edits & deletion.

## Response `201`

Post monitor created

  - `postUrl` string, uri, required
  - `authorId` string, required: Permanent X user ID of the post's author.
  - `authorUsername` string, required
  - `authorName` string, required
  - `authorAvatarUrl` string, uri: The author's profile picture. Omitted when X shows none.
  - `authorVerified` 'blue' | 'business' | 'government': The author's verified badge on X. Omitted when the author has none.
  - `media` object[], required: Photos, videos & GIFs on the post, in X's order.
    - `kind` 'gif' | 'photo' | 'video', required
    - `url` string, uri, required: The image URL. For a video or GIF, its preview image.
  - `text` string, required: Text of the newest version Xquik read.
  - `postedAt` string, date-time, required
  - `eventTypes` PostEventType[], required: Post event types to send. Without it, a monitor sends new replies, new quotes, like & retweet changes, edits & deletion.
  - `isActive` boolean, required
  - `createdAt` string, date-time, required
  - `nextBillingAt` string, date-time, required: Next hourly credit charge time for this post monitor.
  - `baseline` object, required: Counts Xquik read when tracking began. Each metric's gain counts from here. views is null when X showed no view count.
    - `at` string, date-time, required: When Xquik read these counts from X.
    - `views` integer, nullable, required
    - `likes` integer, required
    - `retweets` integer, required
    - `replies` integer, required
    - `quotes` integer, required
    - `bookmarks` integer, required
  - `pausedReason` 'insufficient_credits' | 'x_post_deleted' | 'x_post_protected' | 'x_post_unavailable': Why Xquik paused this post monitor. insufficient_credits means the balance could not pay an hour, so add credits & resume. The other 3 mean X stopped showing the post. Absent when the monitor is active or you paused it yourself.
  - `pausedAt` string, date-time: When Xquik paused this post monitor.
  - `metrics` PostMetrics, required: The 6 metrics of a post.
    - `views` PostMetricReading, required: A metric's current value & its gain since tracking began. Both are null when X shows no count, as for views on old posts.
      - `current` integer, nullable, required
      - `gain` integer, nullable, required
    - `likes` PostMetricReading, required: A metric's current value & its gain since tracking began. Both are null when X shows no count, as for views on old posts.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid input. A value past its maxLength gets this answer, & the message names the field & its limit. Bad input costs nothing, since it's refused before any read.
- `401`: Unauthenticated
- `402`: Payment required. MPP reads include `WWW-Authenticate`. Authenticated reads include balances, plus checkout when the key can open it. A key that reads only gets the account page instead. A failed request never creates checkout. A caller on a plan gets top-up only, plus `credits_renew_at` when the plan renews. Guest keys offer top-up.
- `403`: The API key lacks the monitors scope this route needs. A paused API key gets `api_key_paused`, so resume it on the dashboard.
- `404`: X shows no post with this ID. `reason` says why when X's answer named it. It is `deleted` with the message "The author deleted this post.", `author_suspended` with "X suspended this post's author.", or `protected` with "This post's author limits who can see it." Without `reason`, X named no cause, and the message is "Tweet not found. Check the tweet ID." A post is called missing only when it's gone.
- `409`: Post monitor already exists
- `422`: The post's author limits who can see it. Choose a public post.
- `429`: Too many requests right now. Each user gets 500 reads a second. Each minute allows 120 writes & 60 deletes. `x_api_rate_limited` means X limits this read for now. Neither answer costs anything. Wait for the seconds in `Retry-After`, then retry.
- `500`: Unexpected error.
- `502`: Dependency unavailable, unauthorized, or limited. Default v1 uses 502. Best-practice responses use 424 for transparent dependency failures. Search answers 424 `search_unavailable` when X fails the query itself, or when a filtered search goes far back without a match. The message says how far back the search looked. "X can't run this search" appears only when it's true. Searches X can't run fail at once, with the fix. When X fails a read, Xquik answers 502 `x_api_unavailable` with `X-Xquik-Cause` & `Retry-After`. Retry after that many seconds.
- `503`: Retry x_api_unavailable after Retry-After. With X-Xquik-Busy, retry until your deadline. Overload is announced with 503, `Retry-After` & a reason.
- `default`: Unexpected error.
