# Get trending hashtags and topics by region (alias)

`GET /trends`

Returns current regional trends through the compatibility route.

## Query parameters

- `woeid` integer
- `count` integer

## Response `200`

Trending topics

- object
  - `trends` object[], required
    - `name` string, required
    - `description` string
    - `query` string
    - `promotedContent` string, nullable — Promotion ID for this trend, or null when organic.
    - `rank` integer
    - `tweetVolume` integer, nullable — Estimated post volume for this trend.
    - `url` string, uri — Search URL associated with this trend.
  - `total` integer, required
  - `woeid` integer, required

## Other responses

- `400` — Invalid input
- `401` — Unauthenticated
- `402` — Payment required. MPP reads include `WWW-Authenticate`. Authenticated reads include balances and checkout. Guest keys expose guest top-up only. A failed request never creates checkout. Confirm first.
- `424` — Dependency unavailable, unauthorized, or rate limited. Default v1 returns 502. The best-practice response contract returns 424 for transparent dependency failures.
- `429` — Xquik tier rate limit exceeded. The response includes a `Retry-After` header with the number of seconds to wait before retrying.
