# List the roles assignable in an organization

`GET /organizations/{organizationID}/roles`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.xata.tech`

Roles are predefined. Every member of an organization holds exactly one.

## Response `200`

List of assignable roles

- object
  - `roles` OrganizationRole[], required
    - `id` 'admin' | 'editor', required: The roles a member of an organization can hold
    - `name` string, required: Human-readable name of the role
    - `description` string, required: What the role allows

## Other responses

- `401`: Error returned when authentication or authorization fails
- `403`: Error returned when authentication or authorization fails
- `404`: Generic error response
- `5XX`: Unexpected Error
