# TrackAircraft

`GET /api/aviation/v1/track-aircraft`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.worldmonitor.app`
- URL: `https://api.worldmonitor.app/api/aviation/v1/track-aircraft`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-WorldMonitor-Key`
  - API key in header `X-Api-Key`

Track an aircraft by ICAO24 hex or callsign within map bounds, returning position observations, altitude, speed, source and update time for flight monitoring.

## Response `200`

OK

- WorldmonitorAviationV1TrackAircraftResponse: TrackAircraftResponse contains aircraft position observations.
  - `positions` WorldmonitorAviationV1PositionSample[]
    - `icao24` string: ICAO 24-bit transponder address (hex, e.g., "4b1805").
    - `callsign` string: ATC callsign (e.g., "THY7CX").
    - `lat` number, double: Latitude in decimal degrees.
    - `lon` number, double: Longitude in decimal degrees.
    - `altitudeM` number, double: Barometric altitude in metres.
    - `groundSpeedKts` number, double: Ground speed in knots.
    - `trackDeg` number, double: True track over ground in degrees (0 = North, clockwise).
    - `verticalRate` number, double: Vertical rate in metres per second (positive = climbing).
    - `onGround` boolean: Whether the aircraft is on the ground.
    - `source` 'POSITION_SOURCE_UNSPECIFIED' | 'POSITION_SOURCE_WINGBITS' | 'POSITION_SOURCE_SIMULATED': PositionSource identifies the provider of aircraft position data.
    - `observedAt` integer: Warning: Values > 2^53 may lose precision in JavaScript
  - `source` string: Data source identifier.
  - `updatedAt` integer: Warning: Values > 2^53 may lose precision in JavaScript

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation error
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `403`: API access requires an active subscription (the API key's subscription is inactive or expired).
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded.
- `503`: Service unavailable. Billing-verification responses include code and X-Billing-Verification; other gateway infrastructure failures use the generic GatewayError shape.
- `default`: Gateway or handler error response.
