# Announce a modality to participants

`POST /cohorts/{id}/modalities/{modalityId}/announce`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.production.yourmedley.com`
- URL: `https://api.production.yourmedley.com/cohorts/{id}/modalities/{modalityId}/announce`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Marks a modality as finalized and visible to participants. Optionally sends SGOS magic link invitation emails. Prerequisites must be satisfied before announcement.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, uuid, required
- `modalityId` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- object
  - `sendInvites` boolean, required: If true, sends SGOS magic link emails to all active participants. If false, finalizes without emailing (skip invites).

## Response `201`

Modality announced successfully

## Other responses

- `400`: Prerequisites not met or validation error
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `404`: Cohort or modality not found
- `409`: Modality already announced
