# Update Sharing Customizations

`PUT /medias/{mediaId}/customizations/sharing`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.wistia.com/modern`
- URL: `https://api.wistia.com/modern/medias/{mediaId}/customizations/sharing`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Applies a partial update to a video's sharing customizations. Only the fields
supplied are changed; sending a field as null deletes it (reverting to the
default).

## Requires api token with one of the following permissions

Read, update & delete anything
```

Tokens with the "Act with a team member's permissions" permission
(`all:delegate_to_contact_permissions` scope) can also be used. Requests
made with such a token are authorized using the permissions of the
contact assigned to the token.

An [expiring access token](https://docs.wistia.com/reference/post_expiring-token)
created with the `all:delegate_to_contact_permissions` scope and an
authorization granting the `edit` permission on this media can also be used.

## Request body

- object: Social/embed/download share bar for a video. Every field is optional; only the fields you send are changed (partial update). Send a field as null to reset it to its default.
  - `plugin` object
    - `share` object: Configuration for the share bar plugin.
      - `on` boolean: Whether the share bar is enabled.
      - `channels` string[]: Complete ordered list of share channels to enable on the share bar. This replaces the entire list — include every channel you want active. To enable downloads, include "download" here AND set downloadType.
      - `tweetText` string: Default text used when sharing the video to X/Twitter.
      - `downloadType` 'sd_mp4' | 'hd_mp4' | 'original' | 'all_qualities': Which download quality is offered to viewers. Only takes effect when "download" is included in the channels array.
      - `overrideUrl` string: URL used in place of the default share URL.
      - `pageUrl` string: URL of the page the share bar should reference.
      - `pageTitle` string: Title of the page the share bar should reference.
      - `conversionOpportunityKey` string: The key used for tracking conversion opportunities. Managed by Wistia when the share bar is enabled.

## Response `200`

Sharing customization update successful

- object: Explicitly-set sharing customizations for the video. Values are returned as strings (e.g. "true"); fields that have never been set are omitted.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request
- `401`: Unauthorized, invalid or missing token
- `403`: Forbidden, token is valid but account does not have access to feature

- `500`: Internal server error
