# Invite Contacts

`POST /contacts`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.wistia.com/modern`
- URL: `https://api.wistia.com/modern/contacts`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Invites one or more people to the account by email. Accepts a
comma/whitespace/newline-separated list; each entry becomes a new contact
if one does not already exist for that email.

An [expiring access token](https://docs.wistia.com/reference/post_expiring-token)
created with the `all:delegate_to_contact_permissions` scope and an
`account` authorization granting the `manage-team` permission can also be
used.

## Requires api token with one of the following permissions

## Headers

- `X-Wistia-API-Version` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `contacts` string, required: A comma-, whitespace-, or newline-separated list of email addresses to invite to the account. Each entry becomes a new contact if one does not already exist for that email.

## Response `201`

Contacts created

- object
  - `contacts` object[], required: The contacts that were created (or already existed) for the requested emails.
    - `id` integer, required
    - `email` string, required
    - `role` string, required

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request
- `401`: Unauthorized, invalid or missing token
- `403`: Forbidden, token is valid but account does not have access to feature
- `422`: Unprocessable entity, the request parameters were invalid.
- `500`: Internal server error
