# Is this nickname (or team handle) valid and free? (drives the inline editors)

`GET /api/handles/{handle}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://whenmeet.me`
- URL: `https://whenmeet.me/api/handles/{handle}`
- Auth: none declared

No auth. Nicknames and team handles share one namespace, so both count and suggestions skip either. Without link: your own nickname counts as available, a team handle never does. With ?link=<your team link id>: that link’s own handle is available and every nickname (yours included) is not.

## Path parameters

- `handle` string, required

## Query parameters

- `link` string

## Response `200`

Availability + a free suggestion.

- object
  - `available` boolean
  - `valid` boolean
  - `suggestion` string
